Anantapur produces 1-1.5 million tonnes of groundnut annually — India's largest district by volume. Most exits as raw nut to bulk processors at low margins. A small mechanised cold-press oil unit plus a value-add line (peanut butter, roasted snacks, peanut chikki) captures premium D2C demand. Cold-press groundnut oil retails at 320-450/litre vs commodity at 150; peanut butter D2C at 380-520/kg vs raw nut at 80.
Capex of 15-30 lakh covers cold-press expeller, roasting equipment, peanut butter mill, packing line, and FSSAI compliance. The National Mission on Oilseeds and Oil Palm (NMOOP) and PMFME at 35% subsidy jointly fund up to 60% capex. Hard parts: maintaining cold-press oil quality (heat damages flavour and shelf life), microbial control for peanut butter, and building D2C distribution against established brands. Start with oil (faster ramp); peanut butter and snacks in year 2.
