Chittoor is India's mango pulp capital — 70+ factories handle massive Totapuri, Alphonso, and Banganapalli volumes for global juice brands. Most exits as commodity-grade pulp at low margins. The structural opportunity: a small specialty unit producing premium single-variety pulp (Banganapalli, Imam Pasand, Chinna Rasalu) and concentrates for the boutique D2C and premium-HoReCa markets — pricing 3-5 times commodity-grade.
Capex of 18-40 lakh covers a small pulper, pasteuriser, aseptic packing line, and FSSAI/MOFP compliance. MIDH (horticulture infrastructure at 50% subsidy for fruit-processing) and PMFME (35% subsidy on micro-food enterprises) cover the build. Hard parts: fruit-quality consistency (single-variety supply contracts), aseptic packaging skill, and building 5-10 buyer relationships in the premium D2C and HoReCa space. Start with one variety (Banganapalli, the GI-protected) before broadening.
