Single-origin large-cardamom & hill-orange producer co-op

Anjaw, India's easternmost district on the Lohit valley, grows large cardamom and hill oranges that today leave the district as raw, ungraded commodity at frontier-discount prices. A producer cooperative organising 30-40 households builds on the district's large-cardamom hill spice and hill-orange orchards, and targets two live gaps: cardamom moving from raw pods to graded pods and oil, and oranges moving to juice, squash, and marmalade. The model is light processing plus a single-origin frontier brand — smoke-cured and clean-dried cardamom grades, capsule-count sorting, and small-batch orange squash and marmalade — sold to gourmet, wellness, and specialty-spice D2C buyers who value high-altitude, traceable origin. The dominant constraint is honest and severe: extreme remoteness. Moving goods from Anjaw to Tezu is a long haul on poor roads before any onward shipping, so logistics cost and spoilage risk are the real enemies, and the brand premium only holds if quality and grading stay consistent at distance. This is a patient three-to-four-year slow-build; the kept payback and risk reflect logistics fragility, not weak demand.
