West Siang's Aalo-Mechuka belt has substantial orange production along with active Galo handloom and bamboo-craft traditions. Both economies operate at subsistence scale today. A combined facility running orange juice/marmalade processing during Nov-Feb harvest plus year-round bamboo and handloom craft cluster (40-60 producers) captures both streams from shared infrastructure.
Capex of ₹7-15 lakh covers basic fruit-processing equipment, shared bamboo workshop, looms, and packaging/branding. MIDH (horticulture infrastructure) and NBM (bamboo cluster) jointly fund mixed-cluster setups. The NER Textile Scheme adds handloom-cluster grants. Hard parts: managing three operating models, design adaptation for craft, and shipping logistics from remote Aalo. Start with the bamboo cluster (steady year-round work); orange processing in year 2; handloom in year 3.
