Sharpen the existing idea to its stronger thread — tourism, with craft as a retail add-on rather than a co-equal factory. Chirang sits on the Bodoland (BTR) side of the Manas tiger reserve, and most visitors transit through without spending a night locally. This venture builds on the district's forest-fringe and bamboo resources atom and the lemon and horticulture belt that supplies a farm-to-table kitchen, running a small cluster of community-owned eco-stays with Bodo hosts, guided birding and buffer-zone safaris, and cultural evenings. Bamboo and cane handicraft sold at the stay gives the craft economy a real retail outlet. The honest constraints — matching the modest capex and patient payback — are Forest Department and BTR permits for buffer-zone activity, roughly four monsoon months of near-zero occupancy, genuine and consensual Bodo community engagement (not extractive cultural display), and building OTA and Tripadvisor presence from scratch in a little-known destination. Buyers: domestic wildlife and birding travellers, Guwahati and Kolkata weekenders, and northeast-circuit operators. Start with three to four rooms and one signature guided experience; add craft retail and a lemon-product corner once occupancy holds.
