This mill grinds and mixes maize, rice bran, oil cakes, minerals and vitamins into ready feed for dairy cattle and poultry. It sells bagged powder or pellet feed under its own brand.
NABARD's 2023-24 credit plan for Kamrup Metropolitan says the district has no adequate animal feed units, that most feed is brought in from outside, and that a feed plant is urgently needed to support dairy. The same plan puts dairy loans at Rs 44.99 Cr and poultry at Rs 45.86 Cr, the largest of its farm-linked loan lines. Local paddy and mustard can supply some bran and oil cake, and the city's road and rail links reach nearby states.
You need factory and pollution board approvals, a site on the city's edge, feed that meets BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) specifications, an animal nutrition expert to set the recipes, and lab checks for moisture and fungus. The hard part is price: established makers already truck feed in, and most of your maize and soya must also come from other states, so costs swing and you need cash to stock up. Damp weather spoils feed fast, so storage must stay dry.
Sell through feed dealers and veterinary shops, milk collection centres and dairy societies, and directly to large poultry and dairy farms. Farmer meetings with a vet build trust.
