Balod, a paddy-growing district carved out of Durg in 2012, has a NABARD credit potential of about ₹1,626 crore for 2023-24. Farming and allied activities make up the bulk of it — roughly ₹1,307 crore, around 80% of the plan — while small business (MSME) accounts for ₹217 crore (about 13%).
The single biggest opportunity is everyday crop finance for paddy and other field crops at ₹815 crore. Beyond that, the plan points to a few concrete clusters worth building around. Dairy and poultry are strong (₹26.6 crore and ₹19.6 crore in term loans) thanks to nearby buyers like Indian Broilers, ABIS and Venkys at Rajnandgaon. Fisheries has real room to grow, with over 9,000 hectares of water and the district's many rivers and tanks (₹27 crore). About Balod
Balod is a city on the banks of the River Tandula and a nagar palika in Balod district in the state of Chhattisgarh, India. Balod is 44 km from Dhamtari and 58 km from Durg. Balod has one college, one court, one community health centre, and a jail. There are two dams nearby, the Tandula Dam and the Aadmabaad Dam, built on the rivers Sukha and Tandula in 1912. There are several temples in nearby towns, particularly the Ganga Maiyya and Siyadevi temples.
