North East Delhi has a large young population looking for job skills close to home. A hands-on phone and laptop repair course, using dead circuit boards bought cheaply from the Seelampur scrap trade for practice, prepares students for work in repair shops.

This is a small training centre that teaches phone and laptop repair in three- to six-month courses. Students learn to change screens, batteries and charging ports, solder small parts on circuit boards, find faults and fix software problems, mostly through practice at the bench.
In the 2011 Census, North East Delhi was the most densely populated district in India, and areas such as Karawal Nagar, Mustafabad and Gokalpuri are home to many young people who need a trade. Seelampur, in this district, is one of India's best-known e-waste markets, so dead phones and laptop boards can be bought cheaply by weight for students to practise on.
You need a rented hall with good light and air, eight to ten benches with soldering and hot-air stations, a few microscopes, meters and power supplies, and one or two trainers who repair devices for a living. Soldering fumes need extractor fans. The hard part is trust: many short repair courses already run in Delhi, and families will pay only if students really get jobs. Keep batches small and show where past students now work.
Reach students through schools, community groups and social media. Build ties with repair shops in Delhi's big phone and computer markets, such as Gaffar Market and Nehru Place, to place your students.
