This is a small lab and field team that checks and certifies measuring instruments in factories: weighing balances, thermometers and pressure gauges, plus the temperature inside stores and test chambers. Pharma plants must do this on a fixed schedule under GMP (good manufacturing practice) rules, and inspectors ask to see the certificates.
NABARD's 2023-24 credit plan for North Goa calls the district a prominent pharmaceutical hub, with about 533 registered small and medium firms and ten industrial estates, including Corlim, Colvale, Thivim and Mapusa. It puts credit potential for these firms at ₹2538 crore, by far the largest sector in the plan. The same plan counts 235 food processing units, plus cashew, spice and milk units, which use the same kinds of instruments and need the same checks.
You need trained engineers and reference instruments with valid certificates. You also need NABL (the national lab accreditation board) accreditation for each type of check you offer, which takes months and a proper quality system. The hard part is trust. Established labs already serve these plants, big factories audit a new supplier before using it, and one wrong certificate can end an account.
Start with smaller pharma, food and engineering units, build a record of clean audits, then approach the quality heads of the larger plants, offering same-day visits.
