A denim washing plant takes stitched jeans and jackets and gives them their final look: stone, enzyme and bleach washes, faded effects and softening. Newer plants add laser and ozone machines, which create worn looks with less water and fewer chemicals.
Ahmedabad is among India's biggest denim fabric centres, but much of its fabric is sold at fabric prices to garment makers elsewhere, who do the stitching, washing and branding. Washing turns plain stitched jeans into something a label can sell. Garment units and small labels need a nearby plant that repeats a wash reliably, and mills need washed samples to show buyers. Some washing units already work around the city, so you must win on shade matching, speed and cleaner methods.
This is a heavy business. You need an industrial shed, washing and drying machines, a boiler, an effluent treatment plant (to clean waste water before it leaves) or a site linked to a shared one, and consent from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board. Water and effluent are the hardest part: the rules are strict, and a closure order can stop all work. You also need a skilled wash technician who can match a buyer's sample every time.
Sell to small jeans labels, garment units, export houses and denim mills needing sample washing. Keep a library of wash samples.
