Anand's NABARD credit plan for 2023-24 sees about ₹6,381 crore of lending potential across the district. Roughly two-thirds (₹4,250 crore, 66.6%) is farming and allied activity, and about a quarter (₹1,620 crore, 25.4%) is small business (MSME) — split into ₹1,234 crore of term/investment loans and ₹386 crore of working capital.
The biggest single opportunity is crop loans (₹2,711 crore): tobacco and paddy dominate, but banana is now the highest-value crop on over 12,000 hectares, and tissue-culture labs and ripening chambers are opening up as a real alternative. Anand district is an administrative district of Gujarat state in western India and whose popular nickname is Charotar. It was carved out of the Kheda district in 1997. Anand is the administrative headquarters of the district. It is bounded by Kheda District to the north, Vadodara District to the east, Ahmedabad District to the west, and the Gulf of Khambhat to the south. Major towns are Umreth, Khambhat, Tarapur, Petlad, Borsad and Sojitra.
