Shopian is the Apple Town horticulture belt with the strongest district-level apple concentration in J&K, and it already has apple grading, packing & cold storage plus an orchard workforce — so feedstock and cold-chain basics exist. Most fruit still exits fresh at weather- and market-dependent prices, leaving B-grade and surplus underpriced.
