Simdega forest-produce grading and packaging co-op

Simdega is a heavily forested, tribal-majority district with rich minor-forest-produce traditions (its ODOP focus) — mahua flowers, kendu leaves, wild honey, and herbs — almost all of which leave as raw collection captured by traders. A producer cooperative organising collectors to clean, grade, moisture-control, and package these into branded products captures the district's MFP gap (raw collection to graded, packaged goods), building on the minor forest produce base (ODOP) atom. The honest constraints set the risk: ethical and fair-price tribal engagement, sustainable harvest discipline, NTFP collection clearances and Forest Department coordination, and FSSAI labelling on edible lines like honey and mahua products. Buyers are clean-label grocers, ayurvedic and wellness formulators sourcing single-origin forest produce, and bulk trade buyers who want graded, traceable lots instead of mixed raw collection. Forest produce is the credible single core — the hockey-academy mashup is a separate, mostly grant-funded venture that dilutes focus. Tasar and lac can layer in later via the tasar/lac gap. Start with one or two anchor products (honey, mahua) before broadening the range.
