This unit buys ripe guava from farmers in season, washes and cuts it, removes the seeds, and turns it into pulp packed in food-grade pouches or cans. Part of the pulp becomes jelly, guava cheese (a firm sweet) and toffee sold in packets.
NABARD's 2023-24 credit plan for Bhopal names guava (amrood) as a focus fruit for the district and says the area under it has grown. The same plan puts food and agro-processing credit potential at ₹189.05 crore, and warns that horticulture crops, pulses and oilseeds are being over-produced while food-processing capacity is too thin for farmers to get fair prices.
You need an FSSAI food licence, a pulper, a steam kettle, a sealing machine, a freezer or cold room and clean water. The hard part is timing: guava comes in short seasons, so you must process fast and keep pulp frozen or properly preserved to sell through the year. Power cuts can spoil stock, and fruit quality varies between orchards, so check ripeness and sweetness before you buy.
