This is a hands-on training centre that runs short courses in arc welding, gas-shielded (MIG and TIG) welding, plate and pipe fabrication, reading engineering drawings and shop safety. Trainees practise on real joints and leave ready for a welder qualification test.
Bhopal is home to a large public-sector heavy-electricals plant that makes power-generation equipment. Around it sits a dense cluster of small engineering and fabrication firms, in areas such as Govindpura, that do job work for the plant and others. These firms need workers who can weld to a drawing and pass inspection, and many train new hands on the job. NABARD's 2023-24 credit plan for Bhopal puts small-business (MSME) credit potential at ₹9627.76 crore, the largest line in the district.
You need a shed with welding booths, fume extraction, welding machines, a cutting station, gas cylinders and experienced instructors. The hard part is placement: students pay only if jobs follow, so tie up with local fabricators before your first batch. Low-fee courses at government ITIs (industrial training institutes) compete with you, and rods, gas and practice plate eat into your margin.
Reach young people who have finished an ITI or polytechnic course and want a higher welding skill. Offer fabricators short courses for their existing staff and a pool of trained people to hire from.
