Wardha's 2023-24 credit plan sizes up Rs.2,978 crore of lending opportunity that banks could tap this year. Farming dominates: agriculture and allied activities account for Rs.1,970 crore (about two-thirds), while small business and industry (MSME) make up Rs.738 crore (a quarter).
The single biggest opportunity is crop loans at Rs.1,333 crore for the district's main crops, cotton, soybean and tur in the Kharif season and wheat and gram in Rabi. Beyond crops, livestock is where the money is: poultry alone carries Rs.367 crore of term-loan potential, with dairy (Rs.26 crore) and goat/sheep farming also flagged for rural entrepreneurs.
