Serchhip's mid-altitude microclimate has produced rapid passion-fruit and dragon-fruit growth but processing capacity is non-existent. A small juice-concentrate and pulp unit captures the new crop and supplies metro retail and HoReCa.

Serchhip's farmers have moved into passion fruit and dragon fruit cultivation aggressively in the last 5 years — the climate suits both, and the cash returns beat traditional crops. The processing gap is glaring: no local pulping or concentrate units mean farmers sell into thin fresh-fruit markets at peak harvest. A small unit doing juice concentrate, pulp packaging, and deseeded passion-fruit pulp serves metro mocktail bars, beverage brands, and gourmet HoReCa.
Capex of ₹10–20 lakh covers a pulper, deseeder, pasteuriser, and frozen storage. PMFME pays 35% subsidy. Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North Eastern Region (MOVCD-NER) provides additional infrastructure grants for organic-certified clusters. The hard parts: organic certification (the brand premium hinges on it), cold-chain logistics for frozen pulp out of NE, and a sales pipeline of 5–10 metro HoReCa buyers willing to commit to standing orders. Start with frozen pulp (B2B, simpler); concentrate for retail follows.
