Nayagarh, a hilly forest district about 92 km from Bhubaneswar, has a NABARD-assessed lending potential of ₹2,834.59 crore for 2023-24. Agriculture is by far the biggest slice at ₹1,631.03 crore (58%), followed by informal credit delivery (SHGs/JLGs) at ₹476 crore (17%) and MSME at ₹661.20 crore (23%).
Inside farming, ordinary crop loans make up the bulk — ₹1,171 crore — mostly for paddy, sugarcane, groundnut, green gram and vegetables on the district's 99,000 ha of sown land.
