Electric cycle assembly unit using local frames and parts

This unit builds complete electric cycles: pedal cycles with a small motor, battery and controller that help the rider along. You design a few models, buy frames, wheels, brakes and other parts from Ludhiana suppliers, fit the electric kit, test each cycle and sell it under your own name through dealers.

Ludhiana is India's bicycle-making capital, but much of its output goes out as unbranded parts to assemblers, who earn more by selling the finished cycle. The state has set up a cycle industrial park, the Hi-Tech Cycle Valley at Dhanansu in the district, meant for bicycle and electric bike makers. Buying parts nearby cuts transport time and lets you change designs quickly.

You need assembly benches, a test rig, battery testing tools, skilled fitters and a service plan for buyers. Motors, cells and controllers mostly come from outside the district, and battery packs must carry the required safety certification. Keep motor power and top speed within the limits that let riders use the cycle without registration. The hard part is after-sales: battery faults and slow service ruin a new name quickly. Large established makers already sell electric cycles, and a lot of money stays tied up in stock and dealer credit.
