This is a walking-tour business. You lead groups of six to twelve people through old Lucknow. The main walk is an evening food walk around Chowk and Aminabad, with stops for kebabs, sheermal, kulfi and paan, and stories about the Nawabi buildings on the way. Each walk ends at a chikan or zardozi workshop where guests watch artisans at work.
Lucknow is the heart of Awadhi culture. Its Nawabi-era buildings such as the Bara Imambara and Rumi Darwaza, its food, and its chikankari, the hand embroidery that carries a GI (Geographical Indication) tag, already bring visitors to the city. Many want a local who can pick clean food stalls and lead them into lanes they would not find alone.
You need little more than a phone, a website, travel-site listings and small payments to the stalls and artisans you visit. The state tourism department already runs a low-priced morning heritage walk in the same area, so offer what it does not: evening food, the craft visit and private walks for families. The hard parts are building good reviews and filling walks in the hot months and the rains. Hygiene is vital: one upset stomach can sink your ratings.
