Siliguri is where most road trips to the hills begin, with taxi stands near the bus terminus, the railway stations and Bagdogra airport. The climb is long and steep, and constant braking on the way down heats and wears brake pads and discs. The hard part is competition from roadside garages and company service centres; your edge is speed, honest bills and parts that last on hill roads.
