This is a design service for small factories. You make production drawings and 3D models on a computer (CAD, or computer-aided design), design jigs and fixtures (tools that hold a part steady while it is machined or welded), and redraw worn-out spare parts from samples so they can be made again.
Engineering is one of Nagpur's official signature products, and its MIDC estates are full of units doing job work on drawings sent by big buyers outside the district. To move to selling finished equipment under their own name, these units need design help they rarely keep on staff. NABARD's 2023-24 credit plan for Nagpur says small industry here needs common facility centres and skill training to grow.
You need a good computer, licensed design software, and solid knowledge of machining, welding and tolerances (how much a part's size can vary and still fit). The hard part is getting paid what the work is worth. Many owners see drawings as a free extra, so show them how good drawings cut scrap and rework. Work comes in bursts, so try to keep a few steady monthly clients.
