Kolasib's Vairengte and Bilkhawthlir cluster is one of NE India's most concentrated pineapple belts; the Queen variety here is sweeter and smaller than mainland Kew, ideal for premium retail, yet harvest windows compress and surplus rots while peak prices collapse. A unit making pulp, juice, dehydrated rings and jam absorbs that surplus into shelf-stable SKUs — and the same line and cold logistics extend naturally to the district's dragon-fruit crop, capturing the dragon-fruit raw-to-pulp/juice/dried-snacks gap alongside pineapple.
